Hello all fellow cultivators, I am Dao Yingzi.
We have progressed step by step through Worthies observing the four seasons, Sages anchoring their hearts amid mortal life, and Ultimate Humans renouncing the world to preserve spirit. Reaching the pinnacle of self-cultivation described in Treatise on the Innate Truth of High Antiquity, we arrive at True Humans — the ultimate destination of the entire heaven-human wellness system.
Part One: Popular Vernacular Interpretation of the Original Scripture
Excerpt of the Original Text
The Yellow Emperor said: I have heard that in High Antiquity there were True Humans. They uphold heaven and earth, grasp the workings of Yin and Yang, inhale and exhale refined vital essence, stand solitary and guard their spirit, their flesh and bones unified as one. Thus their lifespan endures as long as heaven and earth, without end; such life is born from complete alignment with the Dao.
Analysis of the character "Zhen (True)"
"Zhen" embodies the primal original heart, stripped of all artificial external adornments, returning to the innate unadulterated nature bestowed at birth. Worthies chase superficial manifestations of heaven and earth, Sages calm their inner hearts yet remain bound to mortal ties, and Ultimate Humans break away from worldly entanglements. All three still cultivate while attached to the grand universal force network of heaven and earth. Only True Humans completely shatter the divide between inner and outer, merging their miniature inner cosmos into the primal Dao of the universe as an indivisible whole.
The phrase "uphold heaven and earth, grasp Yin and Yang" does not refer to some mystical power to manipulate the natural world. It means fully comprehending the primordial laws of Yin-Yang transformation, no longer adjusting oneself passively to seasonal winds and climates. One’s own vital qi resonates in perfect harmony with the grand momentum of heaven and earth, leaving no separation between inner and outer. In daily breathing, they draw upon primal refined qi from heaven and earth, withdraw inward in solitude to secure their primordial spirit without dissipation, and unify their physical bones, muscles and blood to the point of zero stagnation or energy leakage anywhere in the body.
From our consistent framework of internal and external pathogenic winds: Worthies set up outer barriers to fend off external evils; Sages pacify emotional inner winds from within; Ultimate Humans cut off worldly temptations to stabilize latent innate winds at the source. For True Humans, body and mind are fully fused with the Dao, leaving no ground for external worldly evils or internal bodily turmoil to take root. There is no longer depletion of stored kidney qi, and one’s life trajectory coexists symbiotically with the Dao of heaven and earth, granting a lifespan as endless as heaven and earth.
Looking back over the four tiers of cultivation: The foundation lies in aligning oneself with heaven and earth and forging an independent inner cosmos. Worthies start by abiding by natural rules; Sages dwell among mortals without being tainted by worldly desires; Ultimate Humans retreat from the secular world to accumulate essence; True Humans unite with the Dao and return to primal authenticity. This completes the full path of wellness laid out in the Huangdi Neijing.
Part Two: In-Depth Annotation Based on the Vigenic Force Network Theory
Heaven and earth form the universal grand Vigenic Force Network, and the human body is a subordinate subnet.
Worthies align with the superficial rhythms of the grand network; Sages attain a semi-closed subnet; Ultimate Humans draw near to a fully closed subnet. True Humans have long broken the boundary separating their personal subnet from the grand network, merging the thread structure of the individual self into the entire heaven-earth force network.
"Inhale and exhale refined vital essence, stand solitary and guard spirit" means continuously connecting with primal universal energy, completely smoothing out all disordered thread nodes, so latent innate wind, emotional inner wind and external worldly wind all vanish entirely. "Flesh and bones unified as one" signifies unbroken, seamless bodily threads where energy circulates internally without leakage. Without depletion, there is no aging or end to life — this matches the scripture’s phrase "born from the Dao".

Full Text Conclusion
Guard your true self and align with heaven and earth, cultivate to forge an inner universe, polish your practice layer upon layer until you return to unrefined authenticity and coexist with the Dao — this is the supreme realm of True Humans.
We have now fully explained the four tiers: Worthies, Sages, Ultimate Humans and True Humans. Combined with previous discussions of "Zi and Ji", pathogenic winds, the seven-year female / eight-year male kidney qi cycles, modeling after Yin-Yang and harmonizing with cultivation arts, the complete logical closed loop of self-cultivation from the Huangdi Neijing is fully established.
Reflecting on these four progressive stages: Whether you presently dwell among Worthies, Sages, Ultimate Humans, or are still wandering as an ordinary mortal trapped in worldly chaos, cultivation has no shortcuts. It demands steady, down-to-earth deepening step by step; impetuosity and reckless haste will only hinder progress. Cultivation transcends the passage of time; quiet accumulation day after day is genuine skill. Once you truly settle your heart into the normal state of a cultivator, obsessing over which realm you occupy becomes irrelevant — life itself is an endless journey of cultivation. Regulating the physical form and abiding by regular schedules are relatively easy to practice, yet opening and closing the spirit, transcending obsessions, awakening wisdom and comprehending universal principles constitute the hardest barrier on the entire path of practice.
Many wonder how to confirm they have truly stepped into the ranks of cultivators. Today I share a tangible benchmark from real practice. When sitting in meditation, standing post or quieting the mind to perceive the Dao, you can inwardly observe the full structure of your physical body, genuinely sense the flow of true qi and the pathways of bodily threads throughout your frame, and consciously mobilize true qi to unclog stagnation, open meridians and dissolve obstructions. If you reach this state, congratulations — you have formally embarked on the path of cultivation. To outsiders this may sound fantastical, yet it is no empty illusion. A person’s cognition ultimately shapes their words and deeds. All the twists and hardships of a lifetime seem a series of accidents, yet upon careful reflection, life’s trajectory would remain unchanged even if restarted. Whether you step onto the path of cultivation out of circumstantial necessity or voluntary heartfelt yearning, crossing this threshold and entering the realm of practice is a fixed outcome shaped by your own karmic causes and effects.
This chapter contains nothing but genuine practical cultivation insights laid bare in writing. Whether you can understand, absorb and penetrate these truths depends entirely on personal fate and your own level of practice. If you one day truly become a cultivator, feel free to leave the word "Master" in the comments — it shall mark the karmic bond between us, concluding a worldly and Daoist affinity.
This article only records insights gained within my current dimension. The Dao is boundless, and these are merely superficial explanations. Read and share as fate allows.
