Hello everyone, I’m Dao Yingzi, the founder of Dao Shadow Study, and it’s my great pleasure to meet all of you here today.
Starting from today, we will launch our long-term Chinese Character Wisdom sharing course. We’ll take apart ancient Chinese characters one by one, dig deep into their unique charm, original meanings, hidden logic and the wisdom locked inside each character, so every one of you can truly understand and recognize the essence of traditional Eastern culture through these ancient words.
Many people around the world think ancient Eastern civilization is full of mystery, full of untouchable, superstitious legends and unpredictable secrets. But today I want to clarify this idea for all of you. China is one of the Four Great Ancient Civilizations with thousands of years of complete, uninterrupted cultural inheritance. Unlike other ancient civilizations whose writing systems were lost or broken long ago, Chinese characters have been passed down continuously from ancient times to the present without interruption.
All the profound wisdom of our ancient East is not hidden in vague myths. It is fully recorded and preserved inside every single Chinese character. Every stroke, every component, every structure of these characters was created by ancient ancestors after observing the sky, the earth, all living creatures and the operation rules of the whole world. If you calm down and study them carefully, you will find all natural laws, life philosophies and practical cultivation thoughts hidden within these simple written symbols. There is no supernatural mystery, only objective, down-to-earth summary of the real world.

3. Character Structure Explanation
   The character 道 is a compound associative character built from two parts: 首 on the top and radical 辶 at the bottom.
   Radical 辶 represents moving forward, traveling and following a path. The component 首 stands for the mind, original awareness and core universal principles. Combined, the literal meaning is walking forward guided by clear inner truth.
4. Core Meanings of 道
   The inherent natural law governing heaven, earth and all living things, the fundamental operating logic of the universe.
   The natural circulating track of yin-yang and energy movement.
   The authentic path of self-cultivation aligned with cosmic rhythms.

   Ancient people created this character to record a natural observation: every movement in existence follows fixed objective rules. 首 symbolizes clear recognition of these rules, while 辶 stands for practicing and living in accordance with them.
   Manifestations of 道 include the expanding Azure Dragon force, converging White Tiger force, the 24 Solar Terms, and human internal energy circulation. It describes objective natural cycles rather than supernatural mysticism.
