Hello all fellow practitioners, I am Dao Yingzi.
We have finished interpreting the four chapters on spring germination, summer flourishing, autumn convergence and winter storage one by one. Scattered seasonal wellness theories must be summarized under a general framework. Most people divide the year into four seasons based on twelve months, solidifying spring, summer, autumn and winter as fixed time periods, and thus trapped by superficial perceptions. Relying on the yin-yang transformation theory of Lesser Yang, Greater Yang, Lesser Yin and Greater Yin from the I Ching, this chapter breaks seasonal boundaries and reveals the essence of the four seasons: they are a yardstick for yin-yang shifts within the same dimension, without absolute fixed forms. It is boundless in its vastness and infinitely minute in its subtlety. Only by grasping its dialectical core can one truly comprehend the fundamental seasonal principles of the Huangdi Neijing.
Part One: Popular Traditional Interpretation

  1. Break the Fixed Misconception: Seasons Lie in Dimensional Shifts, Not Fixed Durations
Ordinary people tend to define spring, summer, autumn and winter by years and months, assuming spring must last several months and deep winter follows a fixed timeline. This is not the case. The four seasons are only defined by waxing and waning of yin and yang inside a single dimension. Once you step out of the current dimension, the original four seasons cease to exist as a complete cycle, merely becoming a single node within another loop.
They have no fixed length; they can expand infinitely or shrink infinitely, fully aligning with the Dao’s principle: boundless in greatness, limitless in minuteness.
  2. Layered Nesting: Four Seasons Exist from the Cosmos to a Single Instant
Annual dimension: The most intuitive heaven-earth cycle. Lesser Yang brings spring germination, Greater Yang brings summer peak vitality, Lesser Yin brings autumn convergence, Greater Yin brings winter sealed storage — a complete cycle visible to the naked eye.
Daily dimension: Dawn corresponds to Lesser Yang (spring), noon to Greater Yang (summer), dusk to Lesser Yin (autumn), midnight to Greater Yin (winter). A full round of four seasonal shifts unfolds within one day.
Lifespan dimension: Youth equals Lesser Yang (spring), prime adulthood equals Greater Yang (summer, middle age equals Lesser Yin (autumn), old age equals Greater Yin (winter). A person’s entire life forms its unique four-season cycle.
Micro extreme dimension: Beyond hours and minutes, every millisecond and fleeting thought forms an independent dimension. Where yin rises and falls, energy disperses and converges within it, a self-contained cycle of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The macro cosmos holds four-season cycles spanning cosmic eras; even a single rising and fading thought conceals seasonal transitions. There is no clear boundary between large and small scales.
  3. Core Essence: Four Seasons as a Dialectical Yardstick of Yin-Yang Circulation, Nothing Absolute
The four seasons fundamentally serve as a measuring standard for outward expansion and inward convergence of energy, not static tangible entities.
The shift from yin to yang with energy unfolding outward forms the momentum of spring and summer; the shift from yang to yin with energy gathering inward forms the momentum of autumn and winter. These states flow endlessly, switching continuously. There is no permanent spring, nor unchanging winter.
All things in the world are in constant flux. The only absolute truth is that nothing is absolute — this is the dialectical Dao hidden within the four seasons.
  4. Practical Wellness Application: Calibrate Yourself Against the Four-Season Yardstick and Flow With Nature
Since the four seasons are a scale of shifts within a dimension, wellness practice cannot rigidly copy monthly and annual rules. If you are in the "autumn" phase of your life, reduce energy depletion and converge your vitality; if you reach the "winter" of a single day, rest quietly and preserve your spirit. A restless fleeting thought within you is your personal summer; calm inner stillness is your personal winter.
Discussing wellness without considering dimensions means mistaking the measuring scale for the substance itself, inevitably disconnecting you from heaven’s Dao.

  5. Layered Nesting of the Vigenic Force Network; Four Seasons as Markers of Single-Layer Energy Circulation
    WHSmith
All heaven, earth and myriad creatures belong to the universal Vigenic Force Network. Every independent dimension forms a secondary thread subnet. Spring, summer, autumn and winter merely label four energy phases within one subnet: expansion, peak intensity, gathering, and sealed storage.
Step outside this subnet layer, and the four-phase division becomes invalid, reduced to a fleeting node within the circulation of a higher-level force network — the root reason why seasons transform when dimensions shift. Force networks nest within one another, large webs enclosing smaller ones, embodying the principle of boundless vastness and infinite subtlety.
  6. Micro and Macro Share Identical Origins: Any Minimal Force Network Unit Holds a Complete Four-Season Cycle
Inside the smallest thread nodes of the force network, energy expands and contracts. Thus even a millisecond or single thought, as micro units, can complete a full spring-summer-autumn-winter cycle. Giant cosmic force networks revolve slowly, generating four seasons spanning entire cosmic eras. Micro and macro operate under identical circulation rules — a core feature of isomorphic Vigenic Force Networks.
  7. Four Seasons Are a Measuring Scale for Force Network Fluctuations, With No Fixed Attributes
The spring, summer, autumn and winter we define are reference markers humans assign to thread energy changes. These markers shift based on observation dimensions and carry no unchanging inherent properties. The threads of the human body connect to the great heaven-earth network, forming small personal four seasons through internal energy ups and downs, while the external cosmos forms its grand four seasons. Different measuring scales yield different definitions of the four seasons.
  8. "Nothing Is Absolute" — The Eternal Dynamic Law of the Force Network
The entire Vigenic Force Network exists in perpetual energy flow and thread deformation, with no static blocks or fixed properties. Applied to the four seasons, this means no permanent seasonal states. This marks the endpoint of dialectics: the sole unchanging rule is constant transformation. Practicing wellness in alignment with nature essentially means synchronizing the four-season rhythm of your personal threads with the circulation rhythm of the dimension you inhabit.
    Conclusion
Beyond solar terms, the four seasons form a cyclical trend of yin-yang transformation within a single dimension, a dialectical ruler for measuring all change, and a direct reflection of layered operation within the Vigenic Force Network. Once you grasp this general framework, you can draw inferences from one instance when reading any seasonal chapter of the Huangdi Neijing. This text integrates ancient text research and original theoretical insights, shared with fate.
If you find this content beneficial, you may save and forward it to help others break free from rigid perceptions of the four seasons. Looking back upon this writing, my proposition that "the four seasons have no fixed forms and are merely fleeting nodes within dimensions" has dialectically negated my current viewpoints.
All judgments and insights I write at this moment are only temporary nodes within my personal cognitive dimension. Shift time and space, or move to another force network layer, and all current distinctions between right and wrong will be completely rewritten.
Therefore all arguments in this article only represent my current state of enlightenment. I do not accept refutation or correction from others, regardless of whether they judge my words right or wrong. Nodes vanish in an instant, viewpoints hold no permanence; everyone follows their own path of comprehension as fate allows.
I live by writing, seek peace and blessings
